Midwood is one of Brooklyn's most architecturally distinctive single family neighborhoods. The streets between Avenue J and Avenue P, from Coney Island Avenue to Nostrand Avenue, are filled with 1920s and 1930s Tudor Revivals, English Cottages, Mediterranean Revivals, and Spanish Colonials. Midwood stucco work is genuinely specialized, the original 1920s-30s three-coat lime and cement stucco needs careful matching when repaired, and the half-timber Tudor detailing must be properly waterproofed at every joint.
